North Shore’s Semi Towing Team Returns Tractor-Trailer to Upright Position

When a tractor-trailer runs amuck, the only solution is to call a trusted semi towing team. North Shore recognizes the value of quick response times and integrity when such a situation arises. With the right know-how and equipment, we get your wheels out of the ditch and back on solid ground.

On December 21, 2019, North Shore responded to a call for semi towing near Sanders Road and Milwaukee Avenue in Northbrook, Illinois. A client’s tractor-trailer was carrying a sea shipping container when it ran off the road into a ditch, flipping on its side. When the semi towing team arrived to assess the situation, it became clear that North Shore’s expertise was the perfect solution.

The team determined that two heavy wreckers were needed — one to stabilize the tractor-trailer and one to pull it out of the ditch. First, they backed one of the wreckers close to the semi and attached boom cables to the underside to add stability. After securing the trailer to the cab with towing straps, the semi towing team backed in the second heavy wrecker.

With the support boom extended, they fastened towing cables around the body of the trailer and cab of the semi. Once the straps were secured to the second heavy wrecker, the semi towing team carefully contracted the winches of the second heavy wrecker. The trailer began to upright, balancing on two wheels. Slowly, the tractor fell back onto all four wheels and the team then hauled it out of the ditch.

Within a few hours, North Shore’s semi towing team returned the tractor-trailer to its rightful position and towed it away from the scene. In helping their long-term client, North Shore demonstrated why they continue to be the premier provider of semi towing services in Chicago, Illinois, and surrounding areas.
