Stack of chassis for Semi Towing

Semi Towing Chassis Assistance the Easy Way in 2020

Semi Towing for Sea Containers the Easy Way

Semi towing was needed when a semi hauling chassis needed to be re-balanced.  We were called when a stack of chassis was in danger of toppling over as they were out of balance. Our team arrived and did a little bit of adjusting using a heavy wrecker. We needed to secure things for the drive to our Evanston location.

In Evanston, we planned to use our indoor container crane to stack and unstack the chassis with ease.  The crane is something we use to move things around, re-adjust and be sure things are properly stacked and secured.

Thanks to the North Shore Semi Towing Team for the great work on this one.

Details of Semi Towing of Chassis

North Shore Towing & Semi Truck Heavy Wrecker received a call to re-stack chassis’ and use their semi towing team.  The North Shore Towing & Semi Truck Heavy Wrecker dispatcher contacted the semi towing team and let them know that a stack of chassis needed to be re-stacked and rebalanced. One of the chassis on the bottom of the stack was over-center and was disturbing the balance of the entire stack.   The semi towing team drove out to the location in Northbrook, IL. The semi towing team analyzed the situation and saw that the stack of chassis could not be moved with spilling off the bottom chassis. Using a heavy wrecker they readjusted the stack of chassis. First, they identified one chassis toward the bottom that was off-center. The heavy wrecker was attached to the entire load of chassis, top down. The semi towing team then ran towing cables and towing straps. The semi towing team tightened the straps.  The semi towing team pulled up on the stack of chassis and moved them closer to the center. The semi towing team then removed the towing cables and towing straps. The semi towing team escorted the semi holding the stack of chassis back to North Shore Heavy Towings, Evanston Headquarters. At the Evanston location, they planned to use permanent crane affixed to the ceiling structure in the North Shore Towing & Semi Truck Heavy Wrecker Warehouse. The semi towing team backed the trailer with the stack of chassis into the warehouse just underneath the crane.  The semi towing team unhitched the bottom trailer hitch. The crane was activated by the semi towing team. The crane hook was lowered to the first chassis. The semi towing team attached the towing hooks to the chassis. The semi towing team then pulled the chassis up. The semi towing team member then placed the chassis out of the way. The crane hook was lowered to the second chassis. The semi towing team attached the towing hooks to the chassis. The semi towing team then pulled the chassis up. The semi towing team member then placed the second chassis out of the way. This went on until all four chassis were unloaded.  Next, the semi towing team placed the first, stackable chassis on-top the bottom, support chassis. The semi towing team locked it into place. Next, they stacked the second chassis. They then stacked the third chassis. The semi towing team finally stacked the fourth chassis and made sure they were all locked into place securely.
